About

The administration is comprised of several officials appointed by the Mayor to lead all City departments.

Chief of Staff

Mike Cluxton

With the guidance and direction of the Mayor, the Chief of Staff is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the City. The Chief of Staff manages other members of leadership to provide organization through effective policies and procedures which establish priorities and direct the allocation of City resources. Assuring that all the proper team members are in place ensures that all laws and ordinances of the City are duly enforced and that permits, licenses and privileges granted by the City are faithfully performed and observed.

It is the City's vision to embrace change while celebrating our heritage. We ask that all Wilmington's residents, business owners, and students join us to harness the energy of change to build a community that is not just surviving, but thriving. Our goal is to foster a collaborative environment as we continuously pursue opportunities for the improvement of our city.

Director of Public Service

Mike Crowe

The City of Wilmington is dedicated to providing a wide range of services that help define the quality of life for residents of Wilmington.  You may rarely notice our employees, until there’s a winter snowstorm, or the garbage doesn’t get picked up on time, or a big pothole develops on your street.  Our daily mission is to keep Wilmington’s transportation system and infrastructure clean, safe and running smoothly.  It’s a 24/7 commitment, 365 days a year, and one that each of the nearly 150 public works employees takes to heart.

The Department of Public Services oversees all public infrastructure projects for the City.  This includes city paving, street rehabilitation, trail construction, bridge construction, updates to city facilities, and safety improvements.

Director of Public Safety

Nick Eveland

The City of Wilmington's Public Safety department plays a crucial role in maintaining the well-being and security of our community. The department oversees various essential services, including the City's Police, Fire & EMS, and Code Enforcement departments. The Police Department ensures law enforcement and the safety of our residents, working diligently to prevent and solve crimes. The Fire & EMS department is responsible for responding to emergencies, providing timely medical assistance, and combating fires. Additionally, the Code Enforcement department ensures compliance with city ordinances and regulations, maintaining our city's overall livability. Together, these departments collaborate seamlessly under the Public Safety Director's guidance, ensuring the peace and protection of the City of Wilmington and our residents.
