Wilmington Sister Cities

Wilmington, Ohio, is a sister city to three cities in Ukraine: Solonytsivka, Merapha, and Chuhuiv. This partnership was established in October 2013 under the leadership of Mayor Randy Riley. The sister city relationship aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Facilitate the exchange of information regarding best practices in local government and the involvement of civil society institutions in local development management.

• Foster friendly relations among the residents of Solonytsivka, Merapha, Chuhuiv, and Wilmington, as well as between local NGOs, youth groups, sports organizations, and cultural associations.

• Promote the history, traditions, and socio-cultural life of the twinned cities through publications in the media of Solonytsivka, Merapha, Chuhuiv, and Wilmington.

• Organize exchanges of delegations between the communities to enhance mutual learning on effective local governance practices and socio-economic infrastructure development.
