Reminder: All Solicitors Must Obtain a Permit
Wilmington, OH — The City of Wilmington would like to remind all citizens and businesses that individuals wishing to engage in any form of solicitation, including door-to-door sales, fundraising, or petitioning, must first obtain a valid permit issued by the Office of the Mayor.
This permit requirement is in place to ensure that solicitation activities within city limits are properly regulated, safe, and respectful of the community. The goal is to protect residents from unwanted solicitations while supporting legitimate local businesses and charitable causes.
Key Requirements:
1. Permit Application: All solicitors must submit a completed application to the Mayor’s office, along with a copy of a valid Driver’s License and a $50.00 Application fee. Applications can be obtained in person at 69 N. South St. Wilmington, OH 45177.
2. Display of Permit: Solicitors must visibly display their permit at all times while conducting business. Failure to do so will result in immediate cessation of solicitation activities.
3. Hours of Solicitation: Solicitation is allowed only between 9 AM and 7 PM during the months of April – October, and between 9 AM and 4 PM during the months of November – March.
Penalties for Non-Compliance:
Failure to obtain the necessary permit prior to soliciting will result in fines or further legal action. Residents are encouraged to report any unpermitted solicitation activities to the Mayor’s office.
The City of Wilmington is committed to maintaining a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for all residents. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in adhering to these guidelines. Please contact the Mayor’s Office at 937-382-5458 with any additional questions.
