Kettering Health to Build New State-of-the-Art Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio

Wilmington, Ohio – Mayor Patrick Haley announced today that the Board of Directors of Kettering Health has voted unanimously to build a new hospital at their current location on Rombach Avenue in Wilmington. This $90 million investment will provide a full spectrum of services, including emergency care, surgical care, and inpatient care, to the Wilmington community.

Construction of the new hospital will begin immediately, with the emergency room slated for completion first. The full hospital is expected to be finished by the third quarter of 2026.

In addition to the new hospital, Kettering Health will also be expanding all outpatient services, including primary and specialty care.

“I met with new Chief Executive Officer Mike Gentry in my office in August to discuss the future of the Wilmington facility, which had previously been put on hold,” said Mayor Haley. “I was able to share with Mr. Gentry that Wilmington is on the cusp of welcoming several new businesses, bringing an estimated several hundred well-paying jobs to the community in the coming months. We have also been in discussions with developers to launch two or three new housing developments in the near future.  We are committed to making any expansion as seamless as possible for our residents.”

“The Kettering Health network is committed to developing an innovative care model that puts the patient at the center of the care they receive,” said Mr. Gentry. “We know that patients prefer to receive care from their primary care provider even when they are admitted to the hospital. This new care model will allow patients to be cared for by their provider during their hospital stay. Our Rural Health Team will be at the forefront of this initiative.”

“The new hospital and expanded services are a testament to Kettering Health’s commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to the Wilmington community. With this investment, Kettering Health is demonstrating its dedication to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the region,” Mr. Gentry said.
