Hydrant Replacement and Water Service Disruption- January 6 Cashman Lane, E. Locust Street, and E. Main Street

LOCATION – Cashman Ln. E. Locust St, and E. Main St., Wilmington, OH

The City of Wilmington announces a water hydrant replacement on Tuesday, January 6. This maintenance will cause water service disruption in the areas of Cashman Lane and portions of East Locust and East Main Streets. There will be a partial lane restriction on E. Locust Street during this repair, and the City of Wilmington asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and exercise added caution when traveling near this work zone

This repair may also cause additional disruptions in water quality, including discolored water and/or potentially a temporary increase in lead levels in the drinking water. A boil advisory has not been issued at this time.

As a standard practice, the USEPA recommends the following action to reduce possible lead exposure in drinking water:

•If water has not been used for several hours, run the tap until there is a noticeable temperature drop. Then, run water for 30 seconds to 3 minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. This helps flush water that may have contained lead that may have leached from plumbing.
•Use cold water for cooking, drinking, and preparing baby formula. Boiling the water will not reduce lead.
•Clean your faucet aerator regularly.
•For additional information visit drinktap.org or www.epa.gov/safewater/lead

Questions regarding the water service disruption and water quality notice may be made to the City Services Office at (937) 382-6509 or to the City Water Plant at (937)-382-3614.
