Emergency Water Service Disruption and Water Quality Notice October 14 N. Lincoln St., N. Walnut St., Lorish Ave., Xenia Ave., and N. South St.
LOCATION – N. Lincoln St., N. Walnut St., Lorish Ave., Xenia Ave., and N. South St., Wilmington, OH
The City of Wilmington announces that due to a water valve leak, water service was disrupted on October 14 in the Northeast Quadrant, specifically on N. Lincoln St., N. Walnut St., Lorish Ave., Xenia Ave., and N. South Street. This repair may also cause additional disruptions in water quality, including discolored water and/or potentially a temporary increase in lead levels in the drinking water. A boil advisory has not been issued at this time.
As a standard practice, the USEPA recommends the following action to reduce possible lead exposure in drinking water:
• If water has not been used for several hours, run the tap until there is a noticeable temperature drop. Then, run water for 30 seconds to 3 minutes before using it for drinking or cooking. This helps flush water that may have contained lead that may have leached from plumbing.
• Use cold water for cooking, drinking, and preparing baby formula. Boiling the water will not reduce lead.
• Clean you faucet aerator regularly.
• For additional information visit drinktap.org or www.epa.gov/safewater/lead
Questions regarding the water service disruption and water quality notice may be made to the City Services Office at (937) 382-6509 or to the City Water Plant at (937)-382-3614.
