To those of us who have been here awhile, Wilmington, our hometown, is of course, a place where we are celebrating a new birth, a renewed spirit.  It’s a place for family, and in homes across every part of the town, from Denver Place, Timber Glen, Lakewood, Southridge, Warren Knolls, McDermott Village, and every street within the community, we share stories of days gone by bringing them back to life in our memories.

Imagine your children playing under the blinding lights of the football field on Friday nights, cheering on the home team alongside new friends. Picture the smell of hotdogs and popcorn wafting from the concession stand, and the warmth of hot chocolate in the crisp fall air.

Envision strolling down near the railroad tracks, as you stop at United Dairy Farmer’s, and you treat your kids to a cone piled high with their favorite flavors. Spend hours exploring the hushed aisles of the library, getting lost in books that feel like old friends.

Experience the magic of the fair that rolls into town every summer, the bright lights of the midway twinkling like stars. Feel the thrill of screaming rides, and the pride of winning a stuffed animal at a shooting gallery. Take drives around downtown, waving at friends and neighbors, the radio humming and the tires thrumming on the asphalt.  In the fall, the breeze begins to whisper through the trees and the Clinton Corn Festival comes to town, where students, visitors and townsfolk meet.

A few days after Thanksgiving the streets come alive with Holidazzle, decorations go up, and Christmastime visits our city once again.
