City’s Advanced Pothole Repairs Create Lasting Solutions

WILMINGTON –In a major victory for local drivers, the City’s Street Maintenance and Repair Department has successfully tackled more than 350 potholes across the city, using approximately 12 tons of asphalt cold patch, an innovative hot-application technique that ensures these road hazards stay fixed. A specialized process is used that heats asphalt cold patch to 250 degrees in an asphalt hotbox. This method creates a stronger bond between the patch and the existing road surface, meaning these repairs are built to last.

While repair crews continue their work across the city, motorists are asked to slow down around work zones and give repair teams the space they need to keep making Wilmington’s roads better for everyone.

For more information about ongoing road improvements, contact the City Services Office at (937) 382-6509.
