City of Wilmington Appoints Interim Police Chief

WILMINGTON, OH – May 6, 2025 – The City of Wilmington has named Sergeant William Foster as Interim Police Chief, effective immediately. Safety Director Nick Eveland made the announcement today and personally administered the oath as Foster was officially sworn in.

Sergeant Foster brings five years of dedicated service to the Wilmington Police Department and will lead the department through the transition period as the search for a permanent chief is underway. He is well known for building strong relationships between law enforcement and the Wilmington community. As Interim Chief, Foster will prioritize upholding the department’s high standards of service and advancing ongoing public safety initiatives.

“We have full confidence in Sergeant Foster’s leadership and commitment to our community,” said Safety Director Eveland. “His experience and professionalism will ensure the continued safety and well-being of Wilmington residents.”
